I'm allllmost back.

it has been SO long since I've posted. I feel like a different person... an exhausted person :)

my thesis is due on Friday (yes, as in less than two days!) and I think a proper entry will have to wait until then. I am sooo close to being done, I can just taste it. I can't wait to share everything that's been going on in my life soon!

AWOOOOOO!

today I went here and got to do that ^

I never thought I could say I have fed a wolf raw meat, given a wolf hugs, gotten huge slobbery kisses from a wolf, howled with a pack of wolves.... today was awesome. I will have more pictures to post soon and if you want to know how you can meet the wolves (and Darlene, their super cool rescuer), let me know.

minute to breathe, please?

Whew! I've been thinking about blogging for weeks but just now feel like I have the time to do it. school started back up and I am SO glad to be back. I was nervous for how it would feel stepping back on campus... and thank goodness, I have not had a single moment of fear or anxiety or anything. I love having everything on track again. and I love that a few people didn't think I'd ever finish. here I am!

it has only been thanks to an amazing gift from my parents that I'm able to do this. I think that's a big difference in my perception of school. I had no idea how much they gave me before. I had no idea how lucky I was to have what I had (and now have back :)). I am so grateful and really appreciative now of what it is they've given me... And I think that plays a huge part on how I feel about finishing school strong. I am really excited to make them proud.

mushy mushy. ;) life is busy but so good. work is great, school is fab, friends and family, while I don't see enough of them, are equally as wonderful. and this weekend we have lots of fun stuff planned!
Friday: I have class presentations (which, by the way, are completely ready to go. no more procrastinating for this one :)) and then afterward, Nathan Hughes' killer's sentencing. he chose a plea bargain so he's going to get anywhere from 16-48 years. we are all hoping for 48. tomorrow night, we have the Tech N9ne concert! I am way more excited for this than a white college girl should be but that's okay. :)
Saturday: hopefully my parents will be able to come down from EP for a visit. they still haven't seen my new apartment... I've lived here since August! otherwise, I'll be studying for my quiz on Monday and writing more of my final paper. a nice relaxed day with maybe a trip to Denver at night for drinks with Pattycakes.
Sunday: SUPERBOWL! I have to work in the morning (I requested it off but my boss needed a favor) but then we're watching the game at Ry's parents' house. the dinner plan is wings and beer... and lots of snacks. lots of people are coming so it should be fun.
Monday: quiz time in the morning, then maybe riding the quads in the afternoon! I'll be taking my quiz early and when I'm done, we're headed to the mountains for a few hours. it won't be a long trip since it gets dark so early, but just a few hours out there will be awesome. then at night, it's homework time and chillin :)
Tuesday: present my final project and finish up my paper that's due Wednesday at noon. still no work til Thursday... so celebrating the end of my first block back!

I have my camera battery charging up as we speak. I decided I don't take nearly enough pictures for all the fun things we do. I'm going to be the paparazzi this weekend :)

oh- and one fun thing for next month--Patts and I are going to see Zac Brown Band! I am sooo excited for this. March 5th can't come soon enough!
ps- happiest of birthdays to my wonderful daddy. I love him very much and wish I could see him on his day. fingers crossed they can make a trip on Saturday!

long time, no blog

working 50-55 hours a week can be slightly overwhelming. I know some people work way more than that but sheesh! I feel like I am always going, going, going.

a few random things:
this one time my mom emailed me while I was in Senegal... it was a response to my story about going to Ngor with my host brother and his friends, a trip that could have been a disaster but luckily was great. she said something to the effect of be careful, but the phrase that stuck out to me was, "don't let four months ruin decades of your life." I've been thinking a lot about that this morning. it's been almost two years since I got back from Senegal and I still think about the things that happened there every day. I have made some big life decisions that I think were partially based on my African experiences. I don't think my life has been ruined by what happened, but I think it could be if I let it. I am going through some challenging times right now with school and financials, and sometimes I just feel like there's no way I'm going to figure it out. howwwwever, we all know that I am extremely stubborn AND (trying to be extremely) determined, so I am not going to "let" anything be. I will make the decisions and changes... assertiveness is key. but it's weird how emotional the Senegal experience makes me. sometimes I am really sad, other times I am so angry, lots of times I am upset with myself and think it's my fauly I ended up here. I came home and (as Mom and Dad warned me), I think that was a mistake. I think the things that happened there were terrible and yes, they have affected me a whole lot, but I think that what hurts me the most is that I feel like I gave up.

hmm. I was going to post more about prepping for the holiday season, the process of securing student loans, life in the corporate world, Molly shenanigans... but I think that blurb up there is about enough for now. time for a shower and work.
